TVOD services typically don’t charge for signing up or creating a user profile. Instead, you pay for the content you choose to watch, often movies, but also series, sports, and events. AVOD stands for Ad-based Video On Demand. Ad-based VOD is a free model where users can log in and stream videos in exchange for watching ads. YouTube is a prime example of AVOD. Finally, FVOD stands for Free Video on Demand and is a service that lets users stream video content without any subscription fees or rental charges.
The difference between VOD and OTT lies in their scope and delivery methods:
- VOD (Video on Demand) refers to any service that allows users to watch videos at their convenience. This includes various models like SVOD (Subscription VOD), TVOD (Transactional VOD), AVOD (Ad-based VOD), and FVOD (Free VOD).
