Stingray Qello just released an exclusive concert video of GRAMMY Award-winning worship singer-songwriter Tasha Cobbs Leonard. The spectacular show, entitled Heart. Passion. Pursuit.: Live at Passion City Church, was recorded in 2018 in Atlanta, and is now available on Qello Concerts.
Tasha Cobbs Leonard is a contemporary gospel musician and songwriter. She won the Grammy for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in 2014 and was later awarded the Gospel Artist of the Year, at the 2015 GMA Dove Awards.
Her third and latest album Heart. Passion. Pursuit was released in 2017 and reached number one of the US Top Gospel Albums chart. We had the privilege to ask Tasha a few questions:
What is your earliest artistic memory?
I was born into a musical family. So singing and playing instruments has been a part of my life, my entire life, as far back as I can recall.
What does gospel convey like no other music genre?
The gospel is the good news of Jesus. The difference is that it is attached to a promise, hope, and a future! His name is Jesus Christ!
What is your best memory on stage?
One of my most memorable moments was having a proposal happen on stage during my song ‘Happy.’
What song do you love performing the most on stage and why?
‘Break Every Chain’! It’s always a joy to watch how that song impacts people’s lives for the better!
If you didn’t become a musician what would you be doing right now?
Well, I went to school for Early Childhood Education. I always wanted to be a teacher! Go figure!
Which musician(s) would you like to collaborate with next?
Celine Dion, Kirk Franklin, Brandy, Quincy Jones, Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, Clive Davis.
What’s a motto you live by?
Live day by day! Failures aren’t failures… they are opportunities for improvement and correction!
What’s coming up for you in the next weeks and months?
My husband and I are writing and preparing for our next sound! We believe God is doing something so peculiar on Earth, and we are excited about it!
Heart. Passion. Pursuit. is Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s most ambitious and intimate project to date. Gathering into one room a world-class group of musicians and singers, including 25 worship leaders of various cultures from around the nation, Cobbs Leonard embarked on an epic week of in-studio live recording at Atlanta’s famed Doppler Studios. The result is a universal Kingdom sound of worship.
“Funny, that recording was a ‘Tasha Classic’! We knew we wanted to record these songs live and we knew we’d be at Passion City! I thought “Hmm, why not just record our time of worship Live at Passion city”… Literally we just showed up and recorded! No rehearsals! No sound check (thanks to Atlanta traffic)… and it was INNNNCREDIBLE!”
