Montreal, June 11, 2020 – Stingray (TSX: RAY.A; RAY.B), a leading music, media and technology company, today announced the departure of its artistic director for Stingray Classica and Stingray DJAZZ, Rob Overman. The Dutch musician and entrepreneur will be leaving the company on August 31, 2020.
As a former co-founder and artistic creator of TV channels Brava, DJAZZ.tv, and Festival 4K, Rob Overman has acted as the artistic director of Stingray’s classical music and jazz brands since the company acquired the Brava Group in 2015. In this creative role, he was responsible for Stingray Brava/Classica, Stingray DJAZZ, and Stingray Festival 4K. He also oversaw the acquisition of the TV channels Cultuur 7, Classica, Cmusic, and the EuroArts video catalog as well as the deployment of the Stingray Classica app.
“The company has gone through tremendous growth in the past five years, and we were fortunate to have Rob at the helm of Stingray Classica and Stingray DJAZZ during this exciting period,” said Eric Boyko, Co-Founder, and CEO of Stingray. “We will miss the passion, creativity, and drive that he brought to his work, every single day. On behalf of Stingray, I thank Rob for his valuable service and contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
“Working for Stingray was an exciting challenge. Not only did I see my creations reach a premium artistic level, but they also received worldwide distribution,” said Rob Overman. “The past five years were a great opportunity to operate as a leader at the forefront of new technology in both the television and video streaming worlds. With Stingray Classica performing exceptionally well and set upon a path of ever-greater success, it is my wish to return to my earlier role as entrepreneur and developer of new music products for start-up companies.”
