Stingray Digital continues its expansion in Europe
Stingray Digital, a Montreal-based provider of music services to multi-channel operators, announces the return of the Music Choice music service as part of TalkTalk’s Youview TV offering. The service will be available at the end of April 2013 with 10 commercial-free channels to start with. The additional 35 channels will be added in the near future. The KARAOKE Channel, the largest licensed karaoke catalogue in the world was successfully launched at the end of December.
“It is an exciting time for Stingray Digital to be re-launching the Music Choice service again in the UK. Our partnership with TalkTalk allows us to introduce our other new services to the UK market, including The KARAOKE Channel which is currently already available but also Concert TV and Music Videos on Demand which will be launch later on in the year,” said Eric Boyko, President and CEO of Stingray Digital, owners of Music Choice International. “We have had many requests from former Music Choice customers in the UK for the return of the service, we are thrilled to be able to now offer the Music Choice linear music service as well as the new On Demand music properties to former and new customers,” he added.
Subscribers to TalkTalk TV, which delivers live and catch-up television over the internet using the YouView platform, will have access to 45 uninterrupted and commercial-free digital music audio channels across all key genres and eras.
The specific channel line-up has been adapted to the taste of the local market with different genres including Rock, Pop, Blues, Urban, Jazz, World, and many more. Stingray Digital’s programmers are based in many countries around the world, allowing for customization of programming to meet the listening preferences in different regions.
The music is complemented by rich on-screen look with background images reflecting CD covers of the music played, complete with rotating background images, also displaying “title, track, artist” and “up next” information.
A broadband player providing a simulcast of the linear channels over the internet, as well as a package of top music videos on demand from major artists will also be included in the package.
Concert TV, the best in live music performances from top-notch artists comprising full-length concerts on VOD has already been made available to TalkTalk Plus TV subscribers at the end of March as part of the video on demand offering.
Laurence Miall-d'Août, Director of TV at TalkTalk, said: “Interactive, pay-per-view services like Music Choice, Concert TV and the Karaoke Channel are very popular in Canada and the United States, and we are delighted TalkTalk customers will be the first in Britain to enjoy them.
“Every minute of every day another customer joins TalkTalk TV, providing a growing market for innovative content.”
